About :
Velas is a small village in Ratnagiri district which is famous for the Olive Ridley 🐢population that visits the Velas beach every year and lays their eggs. At Velas, turtle conservation movement is undertaken by the villagers. An NGO named Sahyadri Nisargmitra and the villagers committee has taken the initiative to conserve olive ridley turtles by providing protection to their eggs.Witnessing a baby turtle coming out of the egg and then finding its way to the sea by those baby steps is an unforgettable moment.

⛰️ Bankot Fort is located on a prominent and commanding point for guarding the trade route along the Savitri River, which runs till,Mahad which was a busy route in medieval times.It is a fort located on a hill near the sea.The fort is one of the few structures in India that have a memorial for a British officer.The triangular memorial you see is by Sir Arthur Mallet,
Harihareshwar Temple complex has two adjacent temples.The smaller Kalbhairav temple is expected to be visited first, before entering the main Harihareshwar temple housing an ancient Shiva Linga.A pradakshina route goes around the temple, along the sea shore.

We will reach Velas village around 6:00 am. We will head straight to the beach to witness the breaking of Eggs by the Turtles.

11.00 am Visit to Bankot fort
Return to home stay and have a lunch and take rest
Visit to velas beach 2nd Time for turtle hatching
Return to home stay and have a dinner & good night

Day 02 :- Sunday

Return Journey Started Sunday After 03 pm
Reach Mumbai by 10:00 pm depend on traffic.
